Commissions

FAQs

Q. Are you currently accepting commissions?

A. We are.

Q How can I find out the pricing for commissions?

A. Please contact us for specific details. You will receive an email with everything you need to know to plan your perfect painting, including the commission price chart.

Q. How does a commission work and how do I begin a commission order?

A. Most commissions begin with a simple description of what you’re looking for. We then chat back and forth via phone, email, or text. Depending on the project scope, we may ask you to complete a questionnaire for a more detailed description of your commission request. Once we arrive at a general direction, size, and budget, we send you a commission summary and deposit request to initiate the commission.  All commissions require a 100% payment. The most common commission request is a re-creation or a slight variation on past, sold work.

Q. What if I want changes once the piece is in progress?

A. As long as you like a selected work and allow us our fair share of artistic control, we are happy to accommodate your opinions and a few edits. We will send in progress photos so you feel able to express your opinions before the piece is even considered "finished" and this makes it easier for us to get it just right.

Q. What if I am not 100% satisfied with the piece?

A. We work closely with customers while the piece is in progress to ensure that the client is completely satisfied with the color, balance, mood, and direction of the piece. You are not obligated to purchase the painting, and if you were to decide that it is not for you or your space, you will be able to use your deposit as store credit to apply to another painting. However, this has never happened before, so hopefully, you would not be the first.

Q. How long will it take to get my commission painting? What is the ideal time frame to place an order?

A. The commission summary will include an estimated completion date.

Generally, 8-12 weeks, depending on the season, but we love a good deadline so if you have something specific coming up, like an anniversary, party, etc. We will do our best to get it to you by then.

Commission times vary widely, from several weeks to several months, depending on the scope of the project and our schedule. Our busiest times are in the spring and fall, from early March through mid-May and early September through mid-October, but work on commissions continues throughout the year. We typically advise reaching out 3 months prior to the desired completion.

Q. What’s your most common type of commission?

A. Variations on current or past works and portraits (including pets).

Q. Can I commission an artwork similar to one of your past works?

A. Yes, this is a common commission request and something we’re happy to discuss.

Q. Can I commission a site-specific artwork?

Yes. These sorts of commissions are best facilitated by sending us photos of the location, paint colors, fabric swatches, design boards, etc. and completing our questionnaire.
